[Review] Edmonton, AB - Share Restaurant
10135 100th Street, Edmonton, AB, T5J 0N7
Round 1 of Downtown Dining Week! If it wasn't for this event, I don't think I would have ever known about this restaurant. This place is tucked inside the Westin hotel, behind another lounge that looks like it would be the only dining place in the hotel. It wasn't until we ventured past the corridor that we noticed another opened seating areas with servers walking around frantically. As was expected, the night seemed quite busy. Share offered two set menus for their food. One was a cheaper alternative and had less food. The other menu had a much larger portion and was almost twice as expensive, but you'll understand why this was when you look at the pictures. Even after going through the menu, it is easy to see that one is more directed towards meat fanatics. The course 2 option for the executive menu was either beef or pork chop, both a fattier form of protein. The two menu options I listed below are more for reference purposes and you got to choose between the two items within each menu. Personally, I chose to go with the first menu option mainly because I was attracted by the vegetable tart that was offered as a main course. After having gone through my plates, I definitely did not regret the choice, which I had made.

QUAIL BREAST:
Rating: 3.5/5 starfishes
Corn puree and crispy leg on top of some risotto
Nice and creamy puree with very moist pieces of quail breast

CRAB CAKES:
Rating: 3/5 starfishes
Dungeness crab with chili lime, aioli (they didn't specify the type) and radish
The crab cake was very soft and was not strong in seafood taste
Paired very wel with the aioli and loved the freshness of the greens on top

BEAR AND FLOWER PORK CHOP:
Rating: 4/5 starfishes
Grapefruit beer brined pork chip
Side of corn and chorio fricassee with Alberta wild rice and citrus honey glazed carrots
Portion size was very generous and the pieces of meat were very succulent and the meat melted in your mouth.

VEGETABLE TART:
Rating: 5/5 starfishes
Wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, artichokes, red quinoa and goat cheese
Very flaky crust that was not too oily or buttery.
The crust was a unique creation that was not like a typical tart crust because it had multiple layers similar to a croissant.
Sautéed vegetables were done very well and were not too soggy or drenched too heavily in oil.
One of my favourite dishes for the night.

DARK CHOCOLATE:
Rating: 4/5 starfishes
Almond praline and blood orange sorbet
Very strong and solid chocolate taste that was simple, though quite filling

DARK CHOCOLATE ORANGE MOUSSE:
Rating: 4/5 starfishes
Cocoa syrup for the mousse and it was placed inside a thin chocolate cup
Fluffy chocolate mousse, but it was more stiff and not as soft when consumed.
Overall, this night did not make too much of an impression on me. The vegetable tart was amazing and my crab cake was very well done, but the desserts were too simple for my personal taste.
