[Review] Edmonton, AB - Leva Cafe

11053 86 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 0X1

No words can describe how amazing these pizzas are... And might I just add, the desserts took my breath away.. again. This was the second time that I have been to Leva, the reason being that this cafe is close to the University of Alberta North campus so it is a convenient place to bring my friends! I also thoroughly enjoy the pizzas, sandwiches and desserts that they carry. The food is more on the expensive side, and so are the drinks. So for a cafe, I would not recommend this place for people looking for a quick bite and expecting cafe food. I didn't get a chance to try the brewed or specialty coffee drinks and the pricing did not make me want to. My friend tried the iced tea, and they refrained from telling him that it was the American version where it was just a bag of tea placed in a glass of ice water. That was the only thing that threw us both off, but the presentation and the taste of the food really made up for it. There were a couple things I would change about the menu, such as the bread pudding and the iced tea, but overall it is an enjoyable experience going to Leva.

MOCHA BREAD PUDDING:

  • Rating: 3.5/5 starfishes

  • Price: Unknown

  • Not very strong in mocha or chocolate taste, it had a bit of a burnt taste to it

  • Different from the traditional bread pudding because it is not as moist

  • The added milk did not add much change to the texture or flavour as I thought it would have

  • Dense and tough to chew on because of the lack in moisture

TALEGGIO PIZZA SENZA POMODORO (Without tomato)

  • Rating: 4/5 starfishes

  • Pricing: $18

  • Toppings: bocconcini, roasted walnuts, apple, honey, and mozzarella

  • One of the best crusts that I have had in comparison to "Una" in Calgary because of its thinness and crispiness

  • Exciting mix of ingredients that made the sweetness of the apple and honey balance out with the creaminess of the cheeses

  • Was not overwhelmingly topped with cheese to balance out the flavour

  • Vegetarian friendly, yet contains some proteins in the walnuts they put on

  • Not as oily as the other pizza, which I ordered the last time I was here

CARROT CAKE:

  • Rating: 4.5/5 starfishes

  • Pricing: Unknown

  • Advised to ask the workers to heat it up a little bit because it tastes a lot better and more moist that way

  • Very nice cream cheese frosting, which was not very sweet and it did not cover up too much of the cake

  • Could have a little bit more cinnamon taste to it (personal preference)
